First Consonants
The first group of consonant letters — combine them with the vowels you just learned.
Consonant letters in NKo combine directly with the vowels you already know. There's no separate 'silent vowel' marker — a consonant letter followed by a vowel letter is read as one syllable, e.g. ߓ (B) + ߊ (A) reads 'ba'.
BA
/b/
ba — river
PA
/p/
TA
/t/
ta — fire
JA

Try building syllables: combine ߓ with each vowel from the previous lesson (ba, be, bi, bɛ, bu, bo, bɔ) and say them out loud.
